Attaching Clasps

European 4-in-1 cuff to slide clasp

There are a number of ways to attach the slide clasp to the cuff bracelet, it depends on which way the attaching rings on the slide clasp lay, either parallel as in Clasp A or perpendicular as in Clasp B (to the right).

Clasp type A

If you are using clasp A type (with the eyelets parallel to the clasp), there are two options:-

Option 1 is to use tiny rings to attach the cuff to the clasp. This option works best when small rings have been used for making the European
4-in-1 weave. Sometimes you may have to link a ring from your weave to more than one of the eyelets on the clasp if one of your rings lies between two of the eyelets.

Option 2 is to actually weave the cuff to the clasp itself.

That is, to line your weave with the clasp (Fig 1) and then add another row which weaves through both the last row on the weave and the eyelets on the clasp (Fig 2).

Although this is a very neat way of finishing your piece, this tends to work only if the eyelets are very close together on the clasp or if you have used a slightly larger scale ring for the actual weave itself (e.g. 18g/3.25mm).

Clasp type B

This clasp is very easy to attach to your weave. It is simply a case of opening the last row of rings and linking through the eyelets which are perpendicular to the clasp itself.
